Import Taxes & Customs Duties

What you need to know about taxes when shopping with us

Important: You may be responsible for import taxes, customs duties, or VAT when your order arrives in your country. These fees are set by your local government and are not included in our prices.

What This Means for You

When you buy from Dream Azul, here's what you should know about taxes:

  • All prices shown on our website do not include import taxes, customs duties, or VAT
  • You (the buyer) are responsible for paying any taxes or duties required by your country
  • These fees vary greatly depending on your country and the value of your purchase
  • These fees are paid directly to your country's customs agency, not to Dream Azul

How It Works

1

You place your order

You pay the item price plus shipping to Dream Azul. No taxes are charged at checkout.

2

Your package ships internationally

We ship your vintage items and provide customs documentation declaring the value and contents.

3

Package arrives at customs

Your country's customs agency may assess import duties or VAT. You'll need to pay these before receiving your package.

Regional Guidelines

Tax and duty rules vary by country. Here's what customers in different regions should know:

European Union

As we are based in the Netherlands (EU), no import duties apply for EU customers. Second-hand goods are typically VAT-exempt under the margin scheme. VAT may apply depending on your country and our business status - any applicable VAT will be shown at checkout.

United Kingdom

VAT (20%) and possible customs duties apply to imports. Goods under £135 have VAT collected at checkout by some retailers, but as vintage goods, you may need to pay upon delivery. Check HMRC guidance for used goods.

United States

Most states don't charge sales tax on used/vintage goods imports. Federal customs duties may apply depending on item category and value. Personal imports under $800 are typically duty-free.

Canada

GST/HST and possible customs duties apply to imports. Personal imports under CAD $20 are exempt. Second-hand goods may qualify for reduced rates depending on the item category.

Australia

GST (10%) applies to imports over AUD $1000. Customs duties may apply depending on item type. Second-hand goods are generally treated the same as new goods for import purposes.

Other Countries

If your country isn't listed, please check with your local customs office for import tax and duty rates. Every country has different rules for vintage and second-hand goods.
